This feature is now released and in the UI, hovering over the name for a database should provide you the capability to edit the names of your databases.

renaming would be nice so I don't have to destroy and rebuild a database just to change the name. Given the relative burden of destroying and rebuilding vs altering a string, this seems like a no-brainer.
